Program

Academic

High standards of teaching and facilities enable pupils to aim high and fulfil their academic potential, whether through A Levels or the IB Diploma, and the School boasts an average IB score of just under 36. Each pupil has a tutor and academic progress is carefully monitored, with parents kept closely informed at regular intervals. Myriad opportunities for academic enrichment exist outside the classroom in the School’s academic societies, lecture programmes, departmental trips and visits.

Boarding

Most pupils are boarders and the School is committed to remaining a traditional full boarding school. The house system is at its heart, providing community and sanctuary where pupils can grow in confidence and fellowship with one another. Each of the 5 boarding houses is home to around 60, the younger pupils sharing rooms whilst most Sixth Formers have single study studios. The housemaster/mistress is responsible for pupils’ care and welfare, supported by a chaplain, matron and personal tutors.

Sports

Sport is integral to education at Worth, developing skills and teaching life lessons alongside the obvious physical benefits of an active, healthy lifestyle. Participation is encouraged and the number of teams fielded means that all pupils have the opportunity to maximise their potential. Facilities include a floodlit Astroturf, a golf course, a fencing salle, a swimming pool, a sports hall and a gym. Links to local clubs give access to 3G pitches and an Olympic sized swimming pool.

Creative arts

In sculpture, life drawing, photography, music, drama, theatre lighting or music technology pupils explore their creative talents. From the Abbey Church and the Coleburt recital room to the soundproofed Rock room of the Performing Arts Centre music fills the air. All students have the chance to perform, either on stage or behind the scenes, in classical and contemporary productions, whilst an open door policy in the Art Department allows pupils to explore ideas and experiment with materials.
