Worksop College’s 330 acre estate is set in beautiful countryside bordering Sherwood Forest and historic Clumber Park. The College, founded in 1895 and fully co-ed since the mid-1980s is non-selective with a firm focus on progress, recognising that every child has his or her own aptitudes – whether academic, sporting, or creative. Program

Academic

The flexible curriculum offers 20+ subjects at GCSE, and 25+ in the Sixth Form, including several BTECs and certificates in Business and Applied Science alongside traditional A Levels. All students meet their personal tutors once a week, and academic tutors attached to each House oversee evening prep. Specific programmes stretch the most able and inspire independent learning, and results are impressive given that the College is non-selective, with 70+% of A Level candidates achieving A*-C.

Boarding

Each of the 8 Houses, led by a Housemaster/mistress and supported by a Housekeeper and the House Tutors, has a slightly different culture and history, creating a sense of community, friendship and belonging. The shared bedrooms are spacious and colourful, and common rooms offer kitchen facilities and multi-media. 300+ activities are available and competitions ranging from the interhouse song festival to the Cuthbert Trophy (for the less sporty) offer opportunities for all to participate.

Sports

Every child is encouraged to participate in sport, with achievement measured through health, enjoyment and the self-worth gained from representing the House or College. The wide range of sports on offer can tempt those who may not think of themselves as ‘sporty’ or competitive. Facilities include 2 floodlit Astroturfs, a 25m indoor swimming pool, a climbing wall and a newly refurbished fitness suite. The School has its own 18 hole golf course and a Golf Analysis Room with TrackMan radar.

Creative arts

Music is at the College’s heart and the Music School offers practice rooms, a recording studio and a 120 seat recital room, whilst the magnificent St Cuthbert’s Chapel has ideal acoustics for orchestral works and the Chapel Choir. The 350 seat theatre is the focus for Drama and the Musical Theatre programme. The Art School has 2 multi-purpose art rooms, an oil/3D studio, and a photography studio, whilst the custom-built Design & Technology school has a spacious, well-equipped workshop.
