St. Johnsbury Academy

Founded in 1842, St. Johnsbury Academy, one of “the nation’s exemplary schools”, combines the resources, facilities, and curriculum of the world’s leading schools with the personal support and attention of the best small boarding schools. Our exceptionally diverse student body enjoys a curriculum of over 220 courses offered at four levels of difficulty, and an average class size of 12. Offerings include 30 Advanced Placement courses, 15 comprehensive technology programs, more than 40 offerings in the visual and performing arts, four college level engineering courses, four languages, and four levels of ESL. The extra-curricular program includes more than 40 interscholastic teams, 20 intramural sports, and over 60 organized clubs and activities.
We expect our students to be good citizens, to study hard and become independent learners who give back to their community. Our student body of nearly 1000 includes 240 boarding students from nearly half the American states and nearly as many countries.
Our campus is in easy walking distance of a variety of restaurants and two theaters. Day trips to Boston and Montreal are convenient.
