One of only a handful of city-based boarding schools in the UK, ‘Teddies’, as it is affectionately known, is set around an elegant and tranquil quad on a 100 acre site in the world-famous university city of Oxford. The School’s proximity to this great seat of learning and culture offers endless benefits to its pupils whilst London and its transport links are only an hour away. Alongside a determined focus on academic work pupils are encouraged to actively engage in life beyond the classroom.

An unremitting focus on learning begins with Year 9’s Shell Curriculum followed by coaching in research and exam preparation and a ‘Taught Skills’ course in the Sixth Form. 20+ subjects are on offer through both the IB Diploma and A Level whilst tutors provide one to one support on academic progress, decision making and personal development. On average 40%+ of candidates achieve A*/A at A Level, the average IB score is 36 and two-thirds of University entrants go to Russell Group institutions.
Boarding and day pupils live side-by-side in 13 houses (7 boys, 5 girls, 1 co-ed), each led by a resident housemaster/mistress, assistant and tutor, ably supported by a team of visiting tutors. Weekends at Teddies are busy and full of life with sports fixtures, rehearsals, house activities, societies, concerts, Chapel and all the amenities of Oxford to keep the pupils active and entertained. A fully integrated and highly regarded pastoral programme provides a comprehensive network of care for all pupils.
With a ‘Sport for all’ ethos the School caters for a broad range of interests, no matter the level of proficiency. That said, Sport at Teddies is hugely successful, driven by a team of experienced coaches, many current or former professional or elite amateur athletes. Superb facilities include 2 all-weather pitches for hockey and tennis, complemented by 3 hard and 4 indoor tennis courts, 3 squash courts, a golf course, a boat house, a swimming pool and a well-equipped fitness centre.
The North Wall Arts Centre boasts a professional theatre with a popular public programme, an art gallery and a dance studio, whilst a wide range of dance disciplines is well-represented in the impressive School productions. The £7m Ogston Music School completes Teddies’ own cultural quarter in Oxford with a recital room, a rock room and a recording studio. Art & DT offers 4 purpose-built studios, a dark room, a ceramics studio, a laser cutter and etching and silk screen printing equipment.
