Program

Academic

Mount Kelly welcomes pupils with a broad range of abilities and is justifiably proud of their academic performance, with around a third of candidates achieving A*/A at A Level. The School combines high expectations with accurate monitoring of progress, carefully considered enrichment activities and individually tailored support to ensure that every child reaches his or her potential. Tutors meet their tutees twice a week, monitoring progress and helping them to manage the demands on their time.

Boarding

Accommodation in the 4 boarding houses varies from dormitories to shared study-bedrooms and each has a mixture of day pupils and boarders, helping maintain a cohesive community. The Houses have their own identities, but values such as mutual respect, tolerance and kindness form core principles for all. Dedicated teams of Houseparents and tutors monitor academic progress, welfare and co-curricular activities, providing the emotional, social and academic support for pupils to thrive and develop.

Sports

A traditional sporting programme is augmented by a wide variety of alternatives such as Horse Riding and Rock Climbing on Dartmoor, Target Shooting and Sailing which encourage every child to engage in sport. Facilities include 2 all-weather pitches, a Sports hall, 2 Fives courts, a 9 hole Golf course, a brand new 50m indoor Swimming pool and 2 further 25m pools, a Boating lake, a Climbing wall and a conditioning gym. Former professional athletes give a competitive edge to the coaching team.

Creative arts

The Art School has 2 large Art studios, a Pottery studio, a Photography suite and a Gallery whilst the Performing Arts Centre has dedicated studio space and a theatre with comprehensive sound and light facilities where pupils can write, produce and perform. Interhouse competitions, informal concerts and the year end Festival of the Arts offer opportunities to perform, whilst Drama and Music collaborate to support the students in a range of productions, such as ‘We Will Rock You’.
