Overview

Kingham Hill School is nestled in the heart of the glorious Cotswold countryside, just 80 minutes from London Paddington in a stunning 100 acre estate where pupils have a safe place to explore, enjoy and make their home. With just over 300 pupils Kingham Hill remains deliberately small as this allows the school to sustain its caring, home-from-home community where every child is nurtured, challenged and inspired to succeed both academically and within their personal lives.

Program

Academic

Highly qualified, specialist staff offer a broad and challenging curriculum (27+ courses at A level) to ensure every pupil has opportunities to learn, excel and realise their potential. Top class facilities, including a new £4m Maths and Science building and a new £3m library, ensure pupils have the best amenities to enhance their learning. Small class sizes deliver a bespoke learning experience that can be tailored to individual needs to help discover the talent in every child.

Boarding

Kingham Hill is majority boarding with 7 houses in total, and with an average of 25 pupils the houses are smaller than at many schools. They have their own gardens, lovely social lounges, games rooms and quiet rooms. Bedrooms range from 6 sharing to single rooms for the older pupils. Each house has two houseparents, a pastoral assistant and house tutors to ensure that a high level of care is given to every child. Activities include craft, games nights, baking and inter-house competitions.

Sports

The school has an extensive range of team and individual sports available, including sailing, water polo, mountain biking and fencing so that every pupil can find something to enjoy and succeed in. Facilities include floodlit Astro pitches, tennis courts and a leisure centre with a gym and indoor pool. Professional coaches, including Rugby Union Lifetime Award Winners and Oxford University players, nurture high achievers and deliver excellent support so all pupils can maximise their potential.

Creative arts

Creative arts are a strength of the school and there are opportunities for every pupil to find and express their creativity. All Year 7 and 8 joiners are given a musical instrument to learn and music events held throughout the year range from regular concerts to the annual Burns Night Ceildh! There are two annual drama productions, recently including Great Expectations and Peter Pan. The Art department offers painting and sculpture as well as photography and product design courses.
