Academic

At Kent College pupils are given every opportunity and support to achieve academic excellence. Timetables are created individually so each child can specialise and receive accelerated learning opportunities. Tutors are at the heart of the pastoral system and as well as regular target setting and evaluation they are on hand to discuss problems and give advice on the big decisions. The School’s average IB score is an impressive 35 whilst on average over 40% of candidates achieve A*/A at A Level.

Boarding

The 5 boarding houses are each under the guidance of houseparents who live on-site with their families, supported by a house manager and resident tutors. Prefects are assigned to help new joiners settle into their new home and there are regular social events and trips off campus, whilst over 70 different activities are available. All bedrooms have regulated wireless internet and most Sixth Formers have their own rooms, whilst common rooms allow the children to relax and socialise as a family.

Sports

Kent College athletes and teams make formidable competitors in any sport, and the school has a strong hockey tradition with regular representatives in national squads. On-site facilities include 3 rugby fields, a floodlit Astroturf for hockey and tennis, a cricket square and nets, 4 grass and 16 hard tennis courts, 3 netball courts, a grass athletics track, a football pitch and a superbly equipped sports hall with a dance studio, squash courts and a teaching room.

Creative arts

The Music department is amongst the best in the country with many pupils learning a musical instrument or joining one of the award winning choirs. Theatre Studies courses are augmented by a lively programme of activities such as theatre trips to London and a variety of productions. The Art department is led by 3 artists providing vibrant teaching and extra-curricular enrichment. Sixth Form students benefit from studio space, working with visiting artists and educational visits.
