Each of the 8 boarding houses has a resident housemistress/housemaster (HM), an assistant HM, a matron and a resident tutor, all on hand with support and advice. Younger pupils share dormitory-style rooms, whilst older boarders progress to individual study-bedrooms. Common rooms include TV, games consoles and computer facilities and a fun spirit prevails through lively interhouse competition and a weekend programme of games, cultural trips, go-karting, skiing, and meals out.
Dedicated teaching and a coaching team boasting a number of current or retired elite athletes challenges pupils of all abilities, encouraging a healthy attitude to fitness and exercise. There’s a strong athletics programme, an equestrian team and co-curricular activities ranging from golf to polo and aerobics. Aside from extensive playing fields the facilities include 2 all-weather pitches, 10 all-weather tennis hard-courts (plus grass courts in summer), 2 squash courts and a swimming pool.
A dedicated Art School has been creatively and pragmatically fashioned from the old school laundry and DT facilities include 3D printing and CNC equipment. The 150-seat Hunt Theatre stages several productions each year and boasts a full-time manager. The modern Music School has a 200-seat recital hall, a recording studio, a percussion suite and a Steinway grand piano. There’s a real emphasis on all students to participate and the School’s Arts offering received an Artsmark Gold award in 2015.
