Founded in 1553, the School has a 100-acre campus in the town of Bromsgrove, just 15 miles from Birmingham yet within easy reach of the beautiful Malvern and Shropshire Hills. A comparatively large school, Bromsgrove has had the resources to invest £50m in its facilities over the last 10 years, making them second to none. Proud of its results, the School also seeks to balance academic rigour with nurture and stimulation, where children can thrive both academically and outside of the classroom.

Bromsgrove is unashamedly academic and, with 23 subjects available at A Level alongside the IB Diploma, the curriculum is both broad and deep. Passionate, professional teachers deliver an enlightened, disciplined and broad education to motivated and ambitious pupils willing to stretch themselves academically. Results are impressive – on average 45% of A Level candidates achieve A*/A and the average IB score is 38. Typically, around two-thirds of leavers go on to Russell Group universities.
The 6 boarding houses are each led by resident Houseparents, supported by assistants, House tutors and non-academic ‘House Mothers’, who together provide the stability and continuity that enables boarders to thrive. Housman Hall, a co-ed Sixth Form House refurbished in 2014, offers a stepping-stone to life after school. With no exeat weekends, there is a genuine boarding community and the stimulating activities on offer range from sub-aqua club to debating and from martial arts to jewellery making.
Sport is taken seriously and there’s an extensive fixture list across a wide range of sports, whilst the depth of the offering enables all levels of ability to take part. Facilities include 2 Sports Halls with Climbing walls, 2 floodlit Astroturfs, 6 floodlit Netball/Tennis courts, a Fitness studio, a 25m Swimming pool and an impressive 8 court performance area with 500 seats. The School also has access to a nearby Athletics facility and an Outdoor Education Centre for Sailing and Kayaking.
A full programme of formal and informal concerts and plays offers pupils many opportunities to perform to audiences both large and small. Music facilities were further enhanced in 2017 with the opening of a new Music School and the 300 seat Routh concert hall. At the same time a separate new 300 seat theatre opened, along with a performance studio, workshops, props store and dressing rooms. A new £2.5m Art, and DT building is home to Fine Art, 3D Design, Textiles, Film and Photography.
