Washington Academy

Washington Academy, an independent private day and boarding 9-12 high school, is set in a town of less that 2,000. Its 425 students with a 1:13 student/teacher ratio, gives it a real family feel. Strategies such as pairing new students with local student mentors help them to quickly feel at home. WA makes the most of its coastal environment, integrating it into the science curriculum. The state champion Math Team enhances the rigorous math program with its 35 members.
Washington Academy offers a comprehensive college
placement program with its early college programs, many honors and up to 13 Advanced Placement classes. Not all students are looking for a traditional academic program. WA also offers applied programs in STEAM, marine/ocean sciences, Maine Guide Ecotourism, boat building/marine technologies, health occupations, robotics, engineering and culinary arts. Washington Academy offers over 35 clubs, activities and athletic teams. Our students are known to be strong yet gracious competitors. Fellow students, faculty and the community members are their greatest fans. The school is the center of the community-a place where parents, students and educators truly look out for one another.
